Former Indian teams Coach, John Wright appointed as Derbyshire cricket club’s president

Former coach of Indian Cricket team, John Wright has been appointed as the president of English County Side’s Derbyshire Cricket Club.

John Wright who is a former cricketer of New Zealand has scored above 9000 runs.

Wright who is also a former player of Derbyshire cricket club siad that he holds Derbyshire very close to his heart and is honoured to serve the club as president.

“I hold Derbyshire very close to my heart and I am honoured to serve as Club President,” said Wright, who is regarded as one of Derbyshire’s finest ever players.

Wright further added that he enjoyed here as a player and also as a coach and wished the current Squad all the best.

“I enjoyed so many great times here as a player and as a coach, and I wish the current squad the very best as they continue to make great progress on the field,” he added.

John Wright was also associated with Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Mumbai Indian’s team.

Eion Morgan, current skipper of England cricket team also said that John Wright is one of the greatest batsmen to have ever played for Derbyshire.

Morgan further said that he himself is very delighted that John Wright accepted the role of president of Derbyshire.

“John is one of the greatest batsmen to ever play for Derbyshire. Even when his playing days ended, John kept a close relationship with the club and enjoyed success in his return as a coach.” Chairman, Ian Morgan said.

“His contribution and commitment to the Club over many years has been immense and I am delighted that he has accepted the role of Club President in this our 150th year.”
